Sid Hildawa, 1963-2008

I only go the ClickTheCity to find out movie schedules and shop locations, so I was truly shocked when I saw on their front page that Sid Hildawa passed away last March 30. (Another article here.)

Sir Sid was one of our professors in college. He usually taught the visual arts courses. I remember he was our prof in Visual Arts (duh) and Photography. I don't remember if he was also our teacher in Architecture (probably was, considering he's also an architect). He was a really cool teacher because his classes were always interesting. Like our Visual Arts class was supposed to be all theories and discussions, but he made it into a workshop class. I really ♥ our Photography workshop. It was my first formal classes on photography, so even though I've read about the subject and have dabbled in it (I consider myself an experienced amateur), it's always refreshing to learn and get insight from an actual professional.

This really made me sad because Willa and I were just reminiscing of our college life last weekend! How we both enjoyed our workshops and all. In fact, Willa made a teaching demo on basic art techniques, like how to hold a pencil properly, mixing colors, etc. I'm pretty sure she'll be surprised and saddened by this news...if she hasn't heard about it yet.

Thanks, Mr Hildawa, for everything you taught us!
